SOLCOLA

Solcola are a versatile Vancouver based Funk/Latin/Jazz Sextet. With original compositions ranging in styles from Funk to Reggae, Jazz to Latin and Afro-Cuban, and through the exceptional musicianship of its members, solcola provides its ever growing audience with musical entertainment of the highest quality. Educated in performance and composition at McGill University, Jeff has played as a leader and sideman in a wide variety of musical situations in Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, and the Maritimes.

Christina, a singer of exceptional talent and charisma, has a growing list of recordings with international distribution. With a career that has spanned two decades and several countries, Roscoe brings his own unique musical voice to solcola.

Originally from Montreal, Dave has honed his virtuousic guitar abilities through years of club and concert playing.

Laurence's extremely hip keyboard style has come as a result of his post-secondary studies and incessant gigging in the Toronto and Vancouver funk and jazz scenes.

A drummer of exceptional ability and range, Gregor is studying music at Capilano College in Vancouver.

The band's original pieces cover a huge gamut of groove oriented music, but solcola also puts its own unique spin on cover songs including funk/fusion classics like Get On the Good Foot, and hip jazz standards such as Serenade to a Cuckoo and A Night in Tunisia. This fusion of disparate styles blends smoothly under the accomplished musicianship of the players and allows the group to adapt to a wide variety of playing situations.

In between gigs across the Lower Mainland with great respons, solcola invests considerable time producing studio and live recordings for issue. The band is preparing to record a full-length studio album early 2001 and will continue live performances at home and abroad.
