Snake Eyes
In 1996, Wizard Oz had a vision of what he wanted to create. Little was going to stop him. He had a guitar. He had talent. He had songs that would make his mentors proud. A band was needed to bring Wizard's vision to the masses.
An ad was soon placed in a local newspaper demanding the truly talented to contact the Wizard Oz. The ad called to a dedicated bass player named Mark Sandquist, and the two came together to share in the vision of what is now "Snake Eyes".
The two collaborated on previously written solo material, and after a few rehearsals, took their creations to the "Dublin Street Recording Studios". Owner / Engineer Adam Matheny (also a talented drum player), impressed with the sounds coming from the boys before him, offered to hit the skins for the recording of the six song demo that was to come. The demo consisted of three songs which were to be later released on the "Snake Eyes" debut CD, "The Journey Begins".
In the Winter of 1997, a four song demo tape was recorded including (Make My Day and Mind Full of Guilt) by the lineup of Wizard Oz, Mark Sandquist and Abe Michaud, with James Chang, former bassist / vocalist of "Sacred Blade" on vocals. Due to work schedule and extra studies James had to part ways.
In August of 1998, Paul LeComte joined the band taking over lead vocal duties and completing the lineup of "Snakebite". In September of 1998, the "Snake Bite" name was changed to "Snake Eyes" due to a copyright conflict.
August 6th 1999 marked the release of "Snake Eyes" debut CD "The Journey Begins" in select stores throughout BC and across Canada. On September 5th, 1999 the CD "The Journey Begins" was on the shelves of music stores in Dublin, Ireland.
In 2000, Jett Black replaced Mark Sandquist on bass, Doug Gardner replacing Paul LeComte on lead vocals.
