Laura Doyle

Laura Doyle is a gifted singer, songwriter and performer who has an unforgettable voice. She has been compared to Ani Difranco, Fiona Apple and Sarah McLachlan but her sound and style are definitely her own original blend of the brazen truth saying of a folk singer with the delightful melodies of pop music.

Laura Doyle’s music career has had a rather unusual start. Three years ago she found herself in L.A. meeting with the CBS show Early Edition to pitch ideas for their upcoming TV season. The first idea was about a high school shooting which CBS promptly contracted Doyle to write. However, it was the second idea she pitched that had more impact on her life. It was a story about a young singer who risked her life savings to make it in music. Laura realized she didn’t want to write about that singer she wanted to live that life. She had spent six years enjoying a successful stint as a TV writer in Vancouver for shows like Neon Rider and Madison but her true wish was to sing.

Laura now creates music with Producer (and boyfriend) Sean Eyre who is best known for his writing and production on the song Temple featured on the Nikita soundtrack. Laura and Sean conceptualize their approach to music as balancing the earthy principles of voice and guitar with the more progressive and often ethereal qualities of electronica. They are presently co-producing her debut album which is scheduled to be released January, 2001.
