The Lori Barnson Band

The Lori Barnson Band resides in beautiful White Rock British Columbia, Canada. The band comprises of Bassist and Background Vocalist - Janice Barnson, Drummer and Background Vocalist - Gerry Barnson and Guitarist, Singer/Songwriter - Lori Barnson. For 10 years the band has been performing their unique brand of Christian Pop/Country for audiences all over the Pacific Coast of Canada.

In March of 1999 the band released their critically acclaimed album "The Road to Something More". The album's release was kicked off by a concert tour with Country Greats Farmer's Daughter and Lisa Brokop. The Band was also invited in the summer of 2001 to be apart of 'Rootsfest' in Victoria B.C. That same day Lori had the privilege of sitting in on a songwriter in the round session with the legendary Tom Rush (producer of Jackson Browne/Joni Mitchell) and the stellar songwriter Cheryl Wheeler ( writer for Bette Midler/Suzy Bogguss/Garth Brooks/Juice Newton). What a thrill!! 'Rootsfest' attracts some 15,000 people annually to Royal Roads University. These experiences have caused increased exposure of their music to Christian audiences as well as the secular community of music lovers at large!

The Lori Barnson Band has taken the road in the last 10 years that has been paved with a strong work ethic. Pray, practice and persevere! The history and track record of this band is valid proof of that. In the past six years ( '95 '96 '97 '98 '99' '00) they have garnered a string of B.C. Country Music Association Nominations for 'Gospel Performer Of The Year. Finally in the year 1999 "The Lori Barnson Band" won Gospel Performer Of The Year! The "BCCMA" also nominated Lori for the "Ray McAuley Memorial Horizon Award" in 1999. This award is based on achievements, which may include recorded and/or live performance and contribution to country music in B.C. In addition to all of this the "BCCMA" designed a contest called 'Talent on Tape' and in 1997 Lori was chosen from 322 entries to win first place in the category of Female Vocalist'. Finally in 1998 Lori's song 'Sunlight Before Sundown' won her third place in the 'International Billboard Songwriters Contest' in the Christian Contemporary Category.

The Pacific Music Industry Association annually puts on the 'West Coast Music Awards Gala'. In 1999 'The Lori Barnson Band's album 'The Road to Something More' was nominated for a West Coast Music Award in the category of 'Best Country Album' and Lori was nominated in the 'Female Vocalist of the Year' category. In May 2001 the Pacific Music Industry Association nominated their album for the second time in the categories of 'Best Country Release' and 'Best Gospel Release' for 'The Road To Something More'.That night Colin James presented them with the award for 'Best Gospel Release'.

Country Radio has played a significant part in giving The Lori Barnson Band more exposure. They have had two releases to country radio on the west coast of Canada. The first single to radio was 'Love Like A Wheel' reaching #34 on JR Country. The second release was 'Little Sparks' reaching into the top 20 play list. Both songs can still be heard on BC/Alberta radio and in other parts of Canada as well as Denmark and Spain.

Currently The Lori Barnson Band are continuing to play their spirited music on stages everywhere here on the West Coast of Canada and wherever they are called! Their belief and faith in God are what ignites and excites them. "The songs I Write are gifts from God," Lori says. "When someone unwraps a song and finds new life that's the bottom line, and that's what all the hard work is for."
