Healthy Scratch
Healthy Scratch, a tractor punk trio, formed in late February of 2000. Consisting of Graeme Wells (drums), Chris Reitmayer (vocals, guitar), and Jeff Stonehouse (vocals, bass), the band originated in a small municipality called North Delta. At the time, all three were playing with other non-Christian bands but decided to unite under a common goal: To spread the message of Jesus Christ.
Healthy Scratch has drawn influences from (local Christian punk) bands like Mideck and Captain Haircut to bands like Abba, Philmore, and Washington based MxPx. With their diverse background in music, the band has been able to create a style all on its own. A style which has allowed the band to maintain a steadily increasing fan base of Christians and non-Christians alike.
From the beginning the band’s main focus has been spreading God’s word. A ritual prayer before each concert helps to calm nerves and give thanks for the opportunity at hand. The band is actively involved in church ministry and has a close relationship with their church’s youth pastor. Through the lyrics and strong faith the band hopes to encourage fellow teens to walk in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to never give up on themselves.
