Coal

Vancouver's only "torch noir" act. Smokey, intense and burning. Singer/guitarist Nicole Steen, bass player Marcus Rogers, lead guitarist Jon Wood and drummer Ian Tiles play dreamy, western goth pop.
Formed in 1990,Coal made their debut at the famed Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. Zulu Records released the self titled Cd and cassette, with a video of the track "No Angel" airing on CMT, Muchmusic and Bravo. This song was also included on the soundtrack to the MGM/Green Tea film "Headless Body in Topless Bar". The band's latest CD One Track Mind has been reviewed as... "one of the best Canadian releases of '98" and includes a video of the track Invisible Man. Coal has performed at several NewMusicWest festivals, NXNE, Northwest Music Conference, SXSW and the CMJ Music Marathon in New York.
