Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vietnam and the United States, Steve now makes his home in the Fraser Valley. Steve Lau has been playing and singing from the time he was a young child, and has long been a favorite in the local venues.

As far back as the 60's, Steve has been appearing with some of country music's most well known names including Ferlin Husky, Tex William, Ray Pillow, Peggy Little, Johnny Rodriguez, and Ian Tyson. In 1975 Steve recorded his 45 rpm single called Coming Back Your Way. In 1990 he recorded and produced his first album called Someone New.

In addition to his countless live appearances, Steve Lau has also appeared on television including The Ian Tyson Show, U Tonight (Vancouver's UTV), and The Nashville Network's To Be A Star.
