The Aspens
 The present day Aspens are made up of cousins and life-long buddies Rick Aspen and Jim Fournier.
With Rick's seasoned abilities at playing key-bass, piano, and 2 synthesizers, and Jim playing electric and acoustic guitars, the Aspens deliver a full, rich sound. And besides the electronic drums, it's all played live!
 The Aspens began in the early 1950s with Dick Aspenand his band playing the Flame, Tara, Shangri'la, and Gai Parree just to name a few clubs in Vancouver.
In 1968, at just 14 years old, Rick Aspen
joined his father on the stages around town, and in 1979, they became a duo. Dick and Rick enjoyed much success entertaining all over the lower mainland. They became very popular and gained many followers both young and old. They continued on until 1994 when Dick announced his retirement from performing.
 Wanting to carry on The Aspens tradition, Rick looked within the family for a new partner, as there was a tremendous amount of talent there. Rick chose cousin Gary Aspen
as the new member. Gary Aspen proved to be a solid guitarist with outstanding vocal abilities.
So with a new lineup, new enthusiasm, they became the new and more versatile version of The Aspens. The new duo was very well accepted and quickly filled their schedule and rarely took a break.
 The Aspens demonstrated their versatility often with guest appearances by cousins Jim and Bruce Fournier who had played in a band called "de 'pas" with Gary that played the circuit from 1987 - 1993. The Aspens where often joined as well by long time friend Colleen Robinson
(formerly of The Black Jacks) who provided a complimenting female voice.
 Wether it be out front leading the melodies, or backing up with harmonies, all of these members are singers as well as players. Once in a while, and usually by chance, you can still enjoy the Aspens as a 4 or 5 piece band, but for the most part, a duo, Rick and Jim
