Strawford and Lee
They Put the FUN in DysFUNctional!
Strawford and Lee are Garry Strawford and Cyndi Lee. This talented and fun duo have been playing together and thrilling audiences since 1989. They have had an amazing career over the years.
Garry Strawford began his professional career at age 15, performing with local bands until joining Calico in 1976. Calico then joined with recording artist Mike McDonald and "Magnum Road". From 1983 to 1986 the band toured western Canada performing at various events such as CBC's Easter Seal Telethon, Regina Agribition, Craven Rodeo beer gardens, and the Fern Creek Festival. In addition to performing at these events, they also ran sound and lights for such artists as Carol Baker, Good Brothers, Family Brown, Garry Fjellgard, C-Weed Band, Al Churney, and Ronnie Prophet. The band later became the back up band for Ronnie Prophet and Glory-Ann, performing several concerts and dances in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, ending thier tour as the closing band at the Boggy Creek "Call of the Wild" festival. They shared the bill with such artists as The Whites, John Anderson, Kitty Wells, Little Jimmy Dickins and Jack Green.
In 1986 Garry joined "High Horse", touring western Canada until joining "Quick Change" in 1988, and then Strawford and Lee in 1989.
Cyndi Lee began her professional career in Edmonton with the touring show band "Ty Hanna and Company". After 18 months on the road, Cyndi began a solo career performong in piano lounges and upscale venues across Alberta. Cyndi later joined fellow artist Bill Hassard and together they formed the duo "Hazzard Country". In 1976 Cyndi returned to Saskatchewan remaining active in the music business as a director and teacher. In 1982 Cyndi wrote and recorded her first single entitled "I Believe", and resumed her professional career as a single performer. During that time Cyndi held a contract with Sheriton Centres across Canada. In 1988 Cyndi joined the band "Quick Change" and later formed Strawford and Lee with Garry.
Strawford and Lee now call the west coast of BC home and continue to be a well recieved duo. Strawford and Lee do a mix of Rock and Roll, Country, Oldies and originals. When you throw in a mix of great music, great fun and humor, and a heaping handful of pure musical talent, you have the makings for a great night of dancing and having a blast!
