To say that the alternative/pop/rock/soul, singer-songwriter/recording artists Gideon Cohen, aka Moses Child, has varied musical influences are varied is a huge understatement: contrasting elements of Alternative, Rock, Pop, Reggae, Country, DJ, Rave, Psychedelic and Hip-Hop combine with tight acoustic performances and thought provoking lyrics to make a listening experience for the highter brain functions. The results are a performance that is reminiscent of Jack Johnson, Bob Dylan, Blues Traveler, The Counting Crows, The Stones, and maybe even a little Prince thrown in for good measure.
As he started writing and producing himself as an artist, Cohen first recorded uner the name Gideon Moses Child while producing a Frank Dalton song, Karla Faye Tucker, about the first woman executed by the state of Texas. A couple years later, while producing music with Dancehall/Hip Hop troupe Triple Madness, moses Chld co-performed, wrote, and produced the song So Many Girls which charted #7 on Coca Cola Top 40 charts in the Seychelles. During that tour the promoter asked TM's manager to shorten the co-star's name to fit the bill, thus the stage name Moses Child was born.
During summer 2005, after watching the terrible government response to hurricane Katrina, Moses Child was inspired to write, perform, and release his own indie hit This is Babylon which won the 2006 Indie Artist Allince CD Compilation Contest and played across the U.S. on commercial radio. This focused him on getting a larger release recorded, resulting in is latest release, Ghosts & Angels.
