Glenda Rae

Glenda Rae's first memories of singing come from the back seat of her parent's car while travelling with them throughout Canada and the United States. Glenda and her sister (west coast and Toronto jazz sensation Christine Duncan) were born into a musical environment... their father a night club singer turned minister; their mother an accomplished vocalist/pianist/composer of inspirational music.

Glenda demonstrated an innately intuitive talent from a very early age. Even as a young teenager, she possessed a muturity of voice that belied her years. Influenced as she was by black gospel music, and it's rhythm and blues derivatives, Glenda expanded her range of inspirations to include pop, folk, and jazz stylings.

Glenda's voice is a natural wonder; a rich vibrant alto, and soaring upper register, that Glenda manipulates with the soul of any blues great one could think of. Her voice can glide through pop stylings reminiscent of Annie Lennox, or deliver the hard edge of someone like Toronto sensation Amanda Marshall, all the while maintaining her won stamp and signature. While she has an appreciation of classic r&b/soul artists, it is her willingness to merge with contemporary acoustic influences that gives her a unique voice in the clutter of popular music.

Glenda can be hired to perform her wonderful original music (co-written and performed with Canadian jazz-pop phenom Miles Black), or fronting an acoustic groove trio performing a variety of popular cover songs, or even a highly danceable tracks based trio that perform a variety of Motown-soul selections.
