Decognition is a hard rock/metal band from Vancouver, B.C. Having started around two years ago, they have already developed their own sound and style. It cannot be doubted that great things are to come. From the ground up they are rock solid in their performance. With Ilya Viryachev pounding out double-bass fury coupled with bass playing shared by Daniel Tavaszi and Mischa Abalakov, they create the driving rhythm section that every band needs. As for the front line, the raging riffs and searing solos are done by six-string-slinger Cam Amey, with Daniel and Mischa trading off on guitar. The band members come from diverse backgrounds, both musically and socially. Ilya and Mischa are of Russian descent, while Cam comes from a Canadian familie. The odd one out is Daniel who hails from Romanian parents. With such a melting pot, everyone always has something to bring to the table. Their primary influences are mostly from older metal bands such as Metallica and Megadeth, but they also draw from the likes of Opeth, Black Sabbath, Pychotic Waltz and Children Of Bodom. There is no doubt that it's a firey mix. Currently writing songs for their first album, they have four finished originals which have received widespread acclaim from their audiences.
