The Barefoot Blues Band began New Year's Eve, 1998. They invited some local musicians to have a New Year's Eve Blues Jam at their house. When Pav and Loretta jammed with a guitar player the others called 'B.B. Lincoln', a unique sound happened. The groove felt so good they jammed tem minutes past midnight and no one noticed they'd missed the countdown! Within two weeks the were rehearsing full time.
The Barefoot Blues Band soon became known around town. Their energetic shows and original sound kept them gigging full time. For the next year and a half they travelled up and down Vancouver Island playing bars, dances, benefits and opening for big name acts.
Finding the right rhythm section seemed difficult at first. Then one night they played with a drummer that really stood out. Andrei was from Russia and had a unique style that fit the band perfectly. Soon after they got a phone call from a bassist that had recently moved to Vancouver. Jean was from Quebec and had been gigging on cruise ships before moving to B.C. His experience in many styles made him an excellent man for the job.
With all the pieces in place, it was time to hit the studio. In November 2000, five tracks were laid down in two days. Four were Barefoot Blues Band originals and a bluesy cover of Walkin' After Midnight. The band is currently unsigned and gigging around Vancouver awaiting their second session in March.
